LeBron James’ Work Ethic

by Brian McCormick on March 16, 2009

Most people assume that LeBron James is “King James” because he is a genetic freak with superhuman athleticism. Nobody credits his work ethic, except Cleveland’s Director of Player Development and his personal shooting coach Chris Jent:

“The amount of time he has put into being a better shooter is unreal,” Jent said. “You can’t imagine how hard he works at this. During the summer, it’s just us alone in the gym with no other bull.”

James calls when he wants unscheduled practice time on cold winter nights. And on hot July days, when James travels the country for commercials or appearances, Jent goes along to find suitable arenas for shooting. And James typically doesn’t stop until he makes 400 shots under Jent’s watch.

I am not trying to take anything away from the King and I don’t want to make excuses but If I would have someone wo would rebound for me whenever I want I would be in the gym 24/7. I am from germany and in the summer I can not even find a gym to shoot in.

Anything less would be an disappointment if you are Lebron James! I expect that out of him!
That’s what he gets paid for. Just look at the amount of hours even the smallest High School Coach puts into basketball, without getting paid for it!!

It’s easy to say. It’s harder to do.
