Mental Side of Weight Lifting

In my newsletters this week, I write about the mental side of being fit and training; the positive affect that fitness and strength have on a player’s mental energy during a game. Here is another example of this idea from Utah State’s strength and conditioning coach:

I think the biggest thing is that the mind is so powerful. One of the things that we’re trying to work with our guys on is mental toughness. Getting them to understand that everyday is gonna be hard, to take care of the business, to give 100 percent on every rep, every set, every drill, every exercise we’re doing. It all goes hand-in-hand. If we can get ‘em prepared mentally to approach the weight room and our conditioning with a good mindset, a good attitude, the physical part will come because we’re gonna push ‘em as hard as we can in here.
