Getting Good at Basketball

by Brian McCormick on April 28, 2009

Rutgers University Mike Rosario was one of the top freshman in the country this season, even though nobody noticed since Rutgers did not have a winning record. But, with a winning pedigree coming out of St. Anthony’s in Jersey City, Rosario knows what it takes to be a great player.

Rosario gained much of his toughness on the asphalt, where scoring baskets gave him a sense of pride and accomplishment. It also made him want to get better. “He’s the type that when he sets his mind on something he takes it very serious,” says Rosario’s mom Joanne. “He sacrificed, and that’s the type of person he is. He dedicated himself to what he’s doing. I am so proud of him.”

Toughness. Desire to improve. Serious. Sacrifice. Dedication.
