Here is a video that shows some exercises that I use with clients to develop strength and stability (lower body drills start at 1:18):

Brian,
Do you do these with the band at the ankles as shown? I’ve seen the laterals done with the band at the knees to minimize the load on the knee joints. What are your thoughts on this..any reason for concern in your opinion?

I put them on the knees; just how I was taught. I have seen many people with them at the ankles.

Thanks, Brian, I have seen them used both ways as well. However, I was hoping you might have run across some research information regarding my concern about stress on the knee joints from using the bands at the ankles for movements in the frontal plane. I don’t want to just follow the crowd. As you know, some of us don’t like to do things just because it was the way we were taught, but rather want to question why it is done a certain way.

I’ve never seen research on the use of the exercise bands.
